WebPutty will this week launch WebPutty Application Platform V6, a
product intended to give developers and integrators a platform for
distributed applications, including Web-based software, corporate
applications, n-tier applications, and Web services.
"Our platform is focused on handling those complexities and making
it much easier for IT staff to maintain those applications and for
developers to build those applications," said Terry Hanold,
executive vice-president for market development at WebPutty.
"[The product] gives a model of the application from end to end,
from the database, to the middle-tier objects and Web services all
the way to the user inteface and it shows dependencies between all
those pieces - that's never been done before," Hanold said.
Highlights of Version 6 include an application dashboard providing
status of elements and dependencies of an application across tiers,
design templates providing wizard-driven functionality and
browser-based access to make it easier to change business
rules.
Version 6 is based on Microsoft's .net applications platform but
can interoperate with Java applications, according to Hanold.
Pricing for the product, which runs on the Windows platform, starts
at $25,000 (£16,171) per CPU.
