Business technology consultant Charteris has adopted an enterprise skills manager (ESM) platform to improve human resources practices and assess where their skills lie.

The web-based platform, developed by Infobasis, allows staff to assess their skills against Charteris’s own behavioural framework and the IT professional standard skills framework SFIA (the Skills Framework for the Information Age).

Charteris head of human resources Barry Hoffman said, “With a flat organisational structure, three UK offices, and the vast majority of our 140 consultants working remotely, it is vital to ensure clear career progression for all.

“Now we can see where our skills lie throughout the company, and for a consultancy that is crucial. We need to assign the right people to each assignment for maximum client satisfaction.”

The platform means individuals now have a single personal development plan while the organisation has a capability plan coupled to corporate strategy.
