Oracle is offering small independent software suppliers that build Oracle-based applications a chance to get into the hosting and management business.

Oracle On Demand for ISVs offers independent software suppliers a chance to host their applications at an Oracle datacentre, where Oracle takes care of the underlying hardware and software infrastructure tied to the application, handling all necessary technical support and maintenance.

"[Independent software suppliers] can take their applications and run them on top of our On Demand platform, becoming then hosting suppliers," said Paige O'Neill, senior director of Oracle On Demand.

To qualify, the software supplier must have built its application to run on Oracle database and application servers. Independent software suppliers must support their applications, while Oracle takes care of all other support, troubleshooting Oracle software and third-party components.

Oracle Database On Demand costs $2,000 (£1,113) per processor per month, including the Oracle database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Internet Developer Suite, hardware and other management tools.

Oracle Application Server On Demand costs $1,000 per processor per month.  This includes Oracle Application Server, Configuration Management Pack, hardware and other application server management tools.

Oracle Collaboration Suite On Demand costs $10 per user per month.
