Up the garden path

A trucker discovered that vigilance against being led up the garden path does not apply only to confidence tricksters of various types, but should also extend to technology.

Mike Shillabar was led up the garden path, or rather down the country lane by his satnav because he trusted the device so much that he failed to take notice of the warning signs.

By the time he realised that he was stuck in a country road in Crowcombe, Somerset, he had passed several signs warning that the route was not for large vehicles.

Downtime is confident the trucker will never trust his satnav unconditionally again, especially has he had ten hours the ten hours it took to free his truck to contemplate the error of his technology trusting ways.
