Church leaders, demonstrating yet again that they can move with the times, have suggested the faithful should give up their iPods for Lent instead of the more traditional sacrifices.
The suggestion is part of a “carbon fast” campaign backed by the Church of England.
Bishop of Liverpool James Jones, who clearly knows how to hit people where it hurts most, said instead of giving up chocolate, a “carbon fast” for Lent will help those suffering from the effects of climate change.
Makes sense, but Downtime hopes the bishop has plan for all those commuters condemned to make long journeys on cramped trains without their iPods.
There is no telling what could happen.
