ComputerWeekly.com editor's blog goes live

Hi I’m James Garner and I’m the web editor on ComputerWeekly.com. I joined Computer Weekly in April 2007 and have been focused on redesigning the website since then.

It’s been a long seven-and-a-half months, but sometime over the next couple of days – as long as nothing goes seriously wrong – we will relaunch the site. I am really proud of the work we have done to improve the site and I hope you enjoy it. All feedback is welcome.

Now a little about me.

Well, I previously worked as web editor for ComputerWeekly.com’s sister website CatererSearch.com, part of the Reed Business Information (RBI) portfolio. Prior to that I was managing editor for Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine, and before that worked for another RBI title Farmers Weekly as a business reporter.

In the past two years, I have become increasingly focused on online publishing and the different challenges and opportunities this presents. It is such a great environment to be operating in at the moment, because it’s so new, particularly when compared with print and the hundreds of years we have had to hone and develop this mode of publishing.

I rarely write any articles for ComputerWeekly.com and I don’t choose the content either (that’s down to the journalists), but I do oversee the website strategy and its overall content proposition. Despite not penning any articles, I will be writing this blog along with my colleague CW.com’s deputy web editor Rebecca Froley. I’m sure Rebecca will introduce herself to you soon.

This blog is the place where we can discuss the changes we are making to the site; the new editorial initiatives we are taking; some fun, exciting or different content on ComputerWeekly.com; or a place where we can indulge ourselves and point out stuff on the web that interests us.

We really welcome feedback from our users and so please don’t hesitate to contact me about ComputerWeekly.com.
