Budget 2010 coverage with real time media

Today was a first for us on Computer Weekly in that we tried to cover the budget in a real time way as well as mopping up with the traditional analysis and interpretation post announcement.

So we used two new tools – Cover It Live for real time blogging. This was great as it allows readers to follow, comment and participate as well as take in our commentary. We had 130 people watching our live commentary by myself and Rebecca Thomson.
We also set ipadio up for one of our bloggers, who works in the political sphere, so Philip Virgo could quickly share his first thoughts of today’s budget announcement.
I also used ipadio to introduce our coverage and I really liked it its ease of use…. we have good traffic to the pieces of audio as well as our other content, so our readers have liked our efforts too, which makes it all worthwhile.
