The latest Salary Services Limited (SSL) and JobsAdWatch.co.uk survey showed demand for IT staff in the retail sector grew 45% in the fourth quarter of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009.
And there were shifts in the most in demand software skills over the year.
Despite demand for skills in C jumping 76% since 2009, SQL remained the most advertised for software skill in the retail sector, with the number of vacancies rising 25% over a year.
The demand for skills in C# also rose 72% in the last quarter of 2010 compared to 2009’s figures.
