The NHS’s National Programme for IT [NPfIT] will be the subject of an eight-page special report by the magazine Private Eye, published on Tuesday 27 February 2007.
The NPfIT will also be featured in a Channel Four “Dispatches” documentary broadcast on Monday 26 February 2007.
The Private Eye special report looks at the programme since its inception in 2002. A previous Private Eye special report looked at what it saw as the scandal of the government’s private finance initiative.
The Dispatches programme is about how the extra billions invested in the NHS have been spent. It’s expected to include interviews on Choose and Book – a part of the NPfIT that involves patients and GPs booking hospital appointments online. It may also look at the Child Health Interim Application, a system that helps keep track of childhood immunisations.
