Microsoft to start selling new enterprise security solutions

Antony Savvas

Microsoft will soon start licensing its new Antigen security products to enterprise customers after extensive beta trials.

From 1 July, volume licence customers will be able to buy the finished tools, which help protect firms against e-mail and spam threats, as well as data gateway breaches.

The products include Antigen for Exchange, Antigen for SMTP Gateways and Antigen Spam Manager.

In addition, there is the Antigen Enterprise Manager technology, and a new Messaging Security Suite which combines anti-virus, anti-spam and content filtering functionality.

These last two elements are aimed at Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange 2000 e-mail servers, and SMTP gateways.

Prices for the products start at £6 per user per year, for subscriptions of 250 users or fewer. Prices come down for subscriptions over this user threshold.

The security platforms can use a combination of a number of different scanning engines from security companies, including Sophos and CA, as well as a Microsoft-developed security scanning engine.
