CA signs up to Linux standards body

Antony Savvas

Computer Associates has thrown its weight behind the revamped Linux Standards Base, which aims to ensure standardisation across different Linux-based products and services.

CA has announced its membership of the Free Standards Group (FSG), which oversees the Linux Standards Base. Existing members include the likes of HP, IBM, Sun Microsystems, AMD and Intel, as well as the major Linux suppliers such as Red Hat and Novell.

The FSG has just released version 3.0 of the Linux Standard Base (LSB) specification, which is designed to make sure that software from different Linux suppliers will run across the various forms of the Linux operating system.

As part of its membership of the FSG, CA will aid a new project to standardise systems management technology in the Linux environment.
