Morrisons links up fuel station IT

Bill Goodwin

Morrisons has completed the integration of point of sale systems at its 300 petrol stations with its head-office systems.

The supermarket group used Htec Hydrapos software with Toshiba Tec's ST-6500 terminals to provide daily automated sales updates. These were previously processed manually.

The system includes automatic number-plate recognition that logs licence plates and video images of both the vehicle and its owner. The application passes this data to an online database.

The application also notifies forecourt staff at all Morrisons petrol stations not to let petrol into vehicles that appear on the database.
