HP Labs celebrates 40th anniversary

HP Labs, which developed the first commercially available  LED in 1968, is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

The Labs developed the first pocket scientific calculator in 1972 and the first commercial laser printer for general office use. It also commercialised RISC computing in 1986.

During the 1990s, the Labs pioneered inkjet printing and in 2001 co-developed the 64-bit Itanium processor with Intel. Current projects include the development of the experimental e-book (pictured)
