Sun is believed to be planning to launch four new high-performance servers by the end of the year, which will all rely on AMD’s Opteron processors.
Sun is still developing the new line, codenamed "Galaxy", but it is expected to include both two- and four-processor models.
The new servers will compete against other servers in the market running on Intel’s Xeon processor configurations.
Some of the systems will also address the growing blade server market, which is currently led by IBM and HP.
