Tibco and HP partner on business process management

Tibco Software is partnering with Hewlett-Packard to develop a web services-based process management offering enabling joint customers to integrate and optimise infrastructure alerts and business process management alerts.

The product, which is based on the HP Openview services management system, is intended to provide customers with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and make decisions on service levels in real time.

Tibco said the web services-based offering will enable customers to gain immediate insight into information flow between business processes across the enterprise.

The company also released details of software for exploiting investments in XML enterprise metadata. Tibco XML Canon 2.4 enables management of XML metadata to boost business integration. The software uses a "canonical" data model that maps metadata against a central repository or "canon."

Applications can use or reuse the metadata without concern as to how the metadata affects other applications. Business users access and use the same meta-tagged information in multiple systems to reduce costs of duplicate data.

The software helps users spot data dependencies, conflicts, and issues and perform impact analyses. It also boosts the integration of disparate IT systems through shared XML vocabularies and metadata.
