Opera is recommending users of its browser upgrade to the new
Opera 9.64 for Windows to fix a number of security problems and
improve functionality.
"Opera 9.64 is a recommended security and stability upgrade,
incorporating the Opera Presto 2.1.1 user agent engine. Opera
highly recommends all users to upgrade to Opera 9.64 to take
advantage of these improvements," said the firm.
The browser fixes an issue where specially crafted JPEG images
could be used to execute arbitrary code. It also addresses an issue
where plug-ins could be used to attack users by allowing
cross-domain scripting.
Other features in the updated browser allow it to more easily
work with various Windows OS features. The updated version also
works better when users are remotely connecting to enterprise
networks protected by SSL security.
