A US Microsoft executive has leaked Redmond's plan to relaunch
and rebrand its Live Search service on the Twitter mobile blogging
service.
The executive's Twitter leak was soon taken down after IT
journalists from
LiveSide.net picked up on it.
The Twitter entry read, "Played today with Live Search upcoming
(to be rebranded) launch pre-data. I like the new features and UX
[user experience] so far."
One potential rebrand name for Live Search is said to be
Kumo.com. "Kumo" is the Japanese word for "cloud" or "spider".
Microsoft has been hinting at intentions to rebrand Live Search
since last year.
Conspiracy theorists may come to the conclusion the Twitter leak
was all part of a marketing ploy. After all, Microsoft has been
known to let the odd "private" product update e-mail between
executives escape in the past.
A US government security representative was recently
exposed for leaking details and the progress of his "secret"
visit to Baghdad on Twitter.
