Opera Mini browser use up 63% in UK

Opera Mini mobile browser usage in the UK has grown 63% in one year, according to the company.

Opera's "State of the Mobile Web" report covers the Opera Mini usage of the top 35 countries where the browser is used.

In the UK, users on average viewed 245 pages in January 2009 using Opera Mini.

Opera says the Mini browser is faster to use than others on mobile devices as it compresses web data by 90% on average.

Armenia led all countries in Opera Mini growth from January 2008 to January 2009, with usage jumping more than 2,800%. Nigeria was second, with 1,854%.

Other notable countries for growth included: Egypt (1,391%), Philippines (570%) and Kazakhstan (419%).

Armenia also led all of the top 35 countries in page views per user.

Armenia users viewed on average 669 pages in January 2009.
