National Rail's website crashed this morning under the
strain of a 600% increase in traffic as commuters sought
information on delays caused by last night's snow fall. National
Rail claimed the snow was the worst to hit the South East in 60
years.
A spokesman for National Rail said he could not say what the
normal level of web traffic was as he was still trying to get into
his office. “It is pretty high normally as this is one of the main
ways people find out about travel arrangements,” he said.
“This is the worst snow since 1947, so you would expect an
increase in enquiries.”
At the time of writing there was no indication when the
in-house-run website would be up again.
