Students at UK universities are among the recipients of the 2011 and 2012 Information Security Scholarships from professional certification organisation (ISC)².
The (ISC)² Foundation Scholarship Program supports future information security professionals by providing funding for undergraduate, graduate research and post-graduate students.
The scholarships are aimed at promoting the growth of the global cyber security workforce. They also support research that advances cyber security at graduate level.
Joyce Siew Hoon Ng of the University of Surrey is the recipient of the 2011 women’s scholarship. Patrick Katamba of London Metropolitan University is one of the recipients of a 2012 undergraduate scholarship.
“Promoting career opportunities through scholarships demonstrates our investment in the cyber security workforce of the future,” said Julie Peeler, director for the (ISC)² Foundation.
“With cyber security being a primary issue in every area of life, we hope our scholarship opportunities will help recruit and cultivate a workforce capable of preventing, detecting and responding to attacks on information assets,” Peeler said.
