IBM has introduced a programme to lure Hewlett-Packard blade server users to its own blade architecture.

The global Blade Migration Center programme will offer existing HP blade clients a £550 incentive to make the switch. The programme is backed by a global team of 300 consultants and technologists to help users migrate to IBM hardware.

Migration consultants will use the IBM Consolidation Discovery and Analysis Tool, which is designed to optimise users' server networks.

Figures from analyst Gartner put IBM as the market leader in blade servers, with 42.8% of the market.
