DataCore unveils cut-price data mirroring

Antony Savvas

DataCore Software has launched a cut-price disaster recovery solution to enable smaller firms to easily mirror and back-up their data over short or long distances.

The solutions are designed to store and protect terabytes of data over Lans, Wans and storage area networks (Sans).

The entry-level package starts at £4,700 and includes software to manage two separately located DataCore SANmelody disk servers, each capable of supporting terabyte storage pools, plus a choice of disaster recovery software.

The choice of disaster recovery software includes either asynchronous Lan/Wan-based replication software for disaster recovery over very long distances, or simple and fast synchronous Lan or San failover mirroring software for storage pools supporting systems stretched across buildings, campuses or cross-town distances.

DataCore says the functionality and features included in the package give smaller businesses higher-end data centre protection for an entry-level price.

The DataCore disaster recovery packages provide protection to storage pools serving multiple platforms or a mix of Windows, NetWare, VMware, Mac, Solaris and Linux systems.

System administrators therefore do not have to juggle products that only deal with one of these platforms, or be forced to add agents to each application server just to mirror data between sites.
