Supply chain software company i2 Technologies is making up to 15% of its 2,000 staff redundant in an attempt to return to profitability.

The move is designed to reduce quarterly operating expenses to below $70m (£39m), compared with $85m in the fourth quarter of 2004.

As part of the staff cuts the company expects to incur a restructuring charge in the first quarter of 2005.

The cuts would affect most business units and regions, said i2.
