Start-up company, Button and Bean, a customise jewellery firm, is a good example of a company making more use of mobiles rather than laptops for the everyday running of a business.

Company owner, Tracy Gray, uses a Blackberry Torch smartphone to tracks sales, manage emails, as well as manage expenses and invoices.

Small businesses can make use of Blackberry’s Enterprise Server Express technology for free. Research in Motion (RIM)’s free Blackberry server software for enterprises and small businesses allows wireless synchronisation between Blackberry smartphones and corporate systems, such as Microsoft Exchange.
