There’s little doubt that privacy is a major issue for Cloud Computing, and few can claim to fully understand the issue, but Sun Microsystems has made it clear how important the issue is: they’ve appointed a Chief Governance Officer for Cloud Computing in the form of the wonderful Michelle Dennedy, their (until now) Chief Privacy Officer. Michelle’s a talented, experienced and respected privacy professional, so if anyone can control data in the Cloud, it’ll be her.
The idea of a Governance Officer for Cloud Computing shows a real commitment from Sun to getting this right. Well done them.
[Disclosure: I have no commercial relationship with either Sun or Michelle]
