Virtually ransacked

Virtual worlds are becoming so like reality, that even virtual property is safe from thieving individuals.

Italian police are investigating the ransacking of a virtual flat set up by Paola Letizia for her virtual pet cat in Facebook game Pet Society.

Although the stolen goods were all virtual, they came at a very real cost of £88, and that is why the crime was reported to police.

“I don’t think it matters that the flat only exits in Facebook, it is real to me and I have suffered a real loss,” said Palermo resident Letizia.

Italy’s postal police are actually investigating the illegal access of Letizia’s email and Facebook accounts, which could attract a prison sentence of up to five years.
