The Computer Weekly royal wedding - now on the BBC!

Amid all the fuss about Prince someone-or-other marrying an online saleswoman from Reading late last year, most (but not all) of the media missed what was undoubtedly the real news – the Computer Weekly royal wedding.

Our associate editor Angelica Mari and our social media blogger Mark Kobayashi-Hillary were married – and in an industry-scoop, the BBC was there to film it. Yes, the BBC.

More specifically, BBC technology correspondent Rory Cellan-Jones was there as part of the filming of his web and Radio 4 documentary The Secret History of Social Networking. He interviewed the Computer Weekly newly-weds about how they organised the entire wedding through Facebook, and sent out live updates during the ceremony via Twitter.

You can watch the video here.

So as you can see, the Computer Weekly team practices what it preaches – as far as using social media goes, that is. We’re not all getting married to each other.

Coming soon, our new online dating service. If we can do it once, we can do it again.
