Miss Bimbo not ideal role model, watchdog claims

A website encouraging young girls to embrace surgery and dieting pills in pursuit of beauty and popularity is being investigated by a communications watchdog.

Those complaining say that the Miss Bimbo web-based game exploits children’s naivety and could lead young people to make unhealthy eating choices.

Miss Bimbo, described by its creators as a fashion game, invites users to create a virtual doll, monitor its diet and weight and buy it breast implants and facelifts.

But isn’t this just another case of digital media bearing the brunt of the public’s fears over wider social problems? After all, such talented individuals as Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie appear to have no troubles getting all the TV time they so richly deserve.
