EU research project ends civilisation

Downtime was dismayed by the news that the European Commission has actually paid researchers €2.7m to develop a personalised and simplified Universal Remote Console interface that runs on normal remote controllers, mobile phones, computers and other devices.
The I2Home project is aimed at helping the aged and infirm to switch on and programme washing machines, lighting, heating, air conditioning, TVs, DVD players/recorders and other household devices. The boffins plan to extend this to devices outside the home.
Judging from the apocalyptic battles to control Downtime’s home TV, I2Home will bring a permanent end to civil behaviour.
Downtime is now offering a wee dram of the good stuff to the person who can develop an API that will turn his Nokia N95 into a light sabre.
