Increasingly organisations are looking for ways to deal with the insider threat to security, and it seems no organisation is immune, not even hacker group Anoymous.
According to apparent postings by administrators of the group’s AnonOps Network, a rogue insider has hijacked at least one of the network’s domains.
A posting on the AnonOps.in site signed “The ‘Old’ AnonOps netstaff”claims that a fellow helper named Ryan is aiming denial of service attacks at the network in protest against the “leaderless command structure” that AnonOps Network Admins use.
“Unfortunately he has control of the domain names AnonOps.ru (and possibly AnonOps.net, we don’t know at this stage) so we are unable to continue using them. We however still have control over AnonOps.in, and will continue to publish news there,” the posting says.
The world has long known there is no honour among thieves, now Anonymous appears to be learning the same is true for hackers.
