International law firm Eversheds is rolling out
anenterprise search toolacross its
offices in the UK, Europe and Asia to around 4,000 users to save
between 50% and 75% of time spent looking for information across
internal and external sources.
The firm chose to implement
Recommind's
MindServer after evaluating upgrades to its existing
knowledge management system and similar products from other
suppliers to improve the management and retrieval of data stored
across the organisation.
Wendy Small, head of knowledge management at Eversheds, said
MindServer not only met the firm's requirements, including
compatibility with its
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server portal, but Recommind was
willing to do a proof of concept before beginning a phased
implementation and had a working relationship with key information
suppliers such as the Practical Law Company.
"The contextual nature of its search technology greatly improves
relevancy and therefore reduces query times, slashing the man-hours
needed to keep our information systems working at peak efficiency,"
she said.
Small said MindServer's ability to search by concept was a big
advantage to lawyers who did not want to have to formulate search
strategies or think of complex synergies and search terms.
"This system is intuitive, takes out a lot of the guesswork, and
recognises related concepts from previous searches to return the
most relevant results," she said.
