Weakening the UK economy

It is scandalous that we have high UK unemployment and yet tens of 1000s of jobs going vacant in the field of IT or being offered to people from abroad. The ever widening skills gap between academia and industry coupled with unemployment for computing graduates being the highest of all subjects are both contributing to an IT skills shortage across the UK. Unless this situation is addressed with some urgency it will seriously weaken the whole UK economy.
