How male domination in boardrooms can be tackled

The Guardian’s Friday interview profiled Helena Morrissey, fund manager who oversees £47bn. She’s also mother to nine children.

In reaction to Lord Davies’s report on how to tackle male domination in the boardroom and the possibility of introducing quotas for female execs, Helena says:

“Quotas are demeaning to women and should only be used as a last resort. As long as there are quotas it will always raise the question of whether a woman is appointed on merit or because she is a woman, creating the perception of discrimination.”

She thinks the answer lies in allowing more people to work part-time and use new technology to work from home.
