Tech in APAC - June 2021

In this edition of Tech in APAC, we begin with Australia, where we had the chance to interview the chief data officer of Macquarie Bank who shared some interesting insights on how the bank is leveraging data analytics.

As some of you may know, banks have been one of the keenest adopters of data analytics in the region, and at Macquarie, there have been significant efforts to move all its data and analytics to a cloud-based data architecture. This has enabled it to reduce cost and tap machine learning capabilities to fight fraud and serve clients better.

Another key development we’ve been tracking closely is 5G. In India, 5G trials are being conducted in some Indian cities by Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, but one analyst who gave her take on India’s 5G landscape noted that a major challenge for operators is highlighting the use cases of 5G and achieving mass adoption.

In this Loom video, check out our take on some of these developments, and please tell us what you think in the comments.
