Google has suspended development of Wave, its much anticipated next-generation e-mail platform, according to reports across the internet.
Wave was Google's attempt to take e-mail to a new level of collaboration by allowing users to capture conversations and documents in one place. It aimed to enable people to communicate and work together.

Wave was joined by a number of platforms from the likes of IBM and Novell to build collaboration suites based around social media. With Wave gone, businesses will need to look at alternatives such as IBM Project Vulcan, Sharepoint 2010, Novell Pulse, Cisco InBox, Gist, Xobn, Notes 8.5 and Outlook 7.
