Fed on pop pap and sport, a whole generation grew up without experiencing popular political satire outside Private Eye and Have I Got News for You. Now, technology, social media in particular, and YouTube specifically, have provided the platform to unleash the bitter sweet creativity of passionate followers of politics. Now we are all better informed observers of politicians. And we don't like what we see. Shame on us if we have been surprised.
