Budget - Binge spending

Ian White

thumb_white.gifMr Darling if you want a modern Britain then you have to enable change. Today's budget did nothing to stimulate or facilitate the adoption and renewal of IT infrastructure in this country.

Companies and organisations need to be encouraged to deploy the latest and most cutting edge technologies, very little (or nothing) was announced in today's budget to address this need.

The effect will be IS stagnation, limits on the renewal of outdated systems and worst of all ensuring that our competitor countries will be able to take advatage of the corresponding limitation in our skills base that may arise from all of this.

The 'red book' will offer some small encouragements at the fringes but the big picture is bleak and with the current approach there does not appear to be any light at the end of the fiscal tunnel.
