Mubaloo provides blutooth beacon technology which can trigger applications on customers’ mobile devices to provide additional information and content that wouldn’t be visible on the physical shop floor.

The information may be nutritional content for food products or additional sizes available in another store for clothing. Once the customer has downloaded the store’s app from the beacon prompt it can then provide information and targeted marketing to the customer if it chooses to.

Mothercare is one retailer who has expressed interest in beacons, with its mobile commerce manager stating their intentions to start trials with different suppliers in early 2015 to engage with customers, rather than for promotional messages.
