5. Jennifer Rigby, CIO, Department of Energy and Climate Change

Following a career spanning several senior IT roles at organisations such as the BBC, The National Archives and the Home Office,Jennifer Rigby became the CIO at the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in January 2011. DECC’s vision is of a thriving, globally competitive, low carbon economy and the Department plays a leadership role in promoting sustainability across Government. 

The Sustainability team that Jennifer leads delivered a reduction of more than 21% in carbon emissions in response to the Prime Minister’s 10% challenge. In January 2012 Jennifer became the Chair of the Green Delivery Unit responsible for leading the delivery of the Government Green ICT strategy.
