Orange has introduced a new PC-to-mobile SMS service that can send out multiple texts to employees and customers.
Designed for firms employing up to 49 people, the service is free apart from the cost of the texts. By using PC Messenger, customers can send text messages to any mobile phone from their PC.
The service gives users a new way to keep in contact with colleagues, customers and suppliers while only paying for the messages they send.
“Text messaging is commonplace within the consumer market and increasingly popular in a business context," said Angela Hall, director of small business at Orange. "We have had many of our small business customers asking us to help them develop a fast and efficient way of sending text messages to multiple employees or customers. PC Messenger is our answer.”
PC Messenger is aimed at businesses with a mobile workforce, and at activities such as appointment confirmation/reminders, lead generation and marketing, delivery of major news or updates, and business to employee communications.
Customers can download PC Messenger from the Orange website (www.orange.co.uk) or from a free CD available in Orange’s high-street shops.
Once the software has been installed, customers need to call Orange customer services, who will enable the application. The first 50 text messages are free; thereafter they cost from 5p each.
