Data centre building and refurbishment is stepping up as demand from customers filters through to those responsible for putting together the infrastructure that is driving the cloud.
According to one of the firms specialising in the database market it has seen a strong "resurgence in demand for data centre building and refurbishment" in the first half of this year.
Mountfield has just released its half-yearly numbers and in a statement accompanying its numbers, which saw growth in sales along with not far off static profits, it pointed out that the situation in the data centre had improved markedly this year.
"The market for new data centres was weak in 2009 and 2010, not only in terms of construction but also, more worryingly, enquiries. General fit-out work also suffered due to the difficult economic environment and margins on contracts won remained under pressure," Mountfield stated.
"The first half of the year for the Group has been the busiest period that we have had for the past three years," it added "We have seen a very strong return in demand for the construction of new data centres."
