Avaya has announced that it is ending its distribution agreement with Manchester-based comms and networking distie Nimans.
The move to rationalise its distributor portfolio has been a long time coming, with senior UK sources within Avaya admitting they felt that it was over-distributed. Its A-team includes Avnet, Azlan, Scansource and Westcon.

Nimans chairman and managing director Julian Niman said that he was "not a pan-European distributor" and for this reason it was felt the firm no longer meshed with Avaya's strategic direction.
"It is always unfortunate to end a supplier relationship [but] we have significant strength in depth within our system portfolio," he added.
Avaya EMEA distribution head Thomas Veit said that the announcement formed part of the firm's "strategy to maintain our close partnerships and ensure we are able to provide our high levels of quality support and resources to partners".
The relationship will come to an end in February 2011.
