IT manager David Grimes has had plenty of media attention today, due to his unusual way of commuting to work.

The 37-year-old from Shoreham, West Sussex, dons a wetsuit every morning and kitesurfs to his office in nearby Brighton.

Grimes told The Argus, "It's a great workout and it's a really fun way of getting to work. It certainly beats being stuck in the traffic.

"The wind we get here on the coast is predominantly south westerly so it takes me right along from Shoreham to Brighton in about the same time it would take me to drive - around half an hour."

When Grimes arrives on the shore at Brighton, he hauls his equipment up the beach before hotfooting to his office, at Gmac Commercial Finance.

But Grimes doesn’t tackle the journey home by kite as it’s against the wind and would take him more than two hours. Instead he simply hops on the bus with all his gear and makes his way back to Shoreham.
