Microsoft is preparing changes to user certification programmes that will accompany the launch of SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in November.
By submitting your personal information, you agree that TechTarget and its partners may contact you regarding relevant content, products and special offers.
The changes introduce three new user focus areas for achieving a Microsoft certified technology specialist certification in SQL Server 2005 or Visual Studio 2005. They will allow software engineers to demonstrate their area of expertise.
For Visual Studio, software engineers will be able to achieve a certification in Web, Windows or distributed development.
SQL Server certified technology specialists will be able to achieve certification as a database administrator, database developer or business intelligence developer.
Currently, Visual Studio offers only "application developer" or "solutions developer" certifications, and SQL Server offers only "database administrator" certification. There will be no increase in cost for those taking the specialist certifications.
