Google has launched a developer website that offers software tools for adding the search engine's services to web applications.

The site offers links to all Google's application programming interfaces (APIs), which are used in developing applications that tie into Google services, such as web search, Blogger, Desktop Search, Gmail and AdWords.

It also includes developer discussion groups and users can get regular updates on new projects and tools through the site.

As companies such as Google, MSN, Yahoo and AOL add more commercial and consumer services to their portals, they are increasingly trying to involve more third-party developers in their technical work.

The new Google developer site can be found at: http://code.google.com/index.html
