JobCentre Plus IT director quits for BP role
David Chapman, IT director of JobCentre Plus at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is leaving the government at the end of the month to join oil company BP.
Chapman received £109,999 pa salary for his role at the DWP, according to government figures, and has worked at the department since 2005, joining as chief technology officer.
He previously worked as chief technology architect at British American Tobacco and accounting firm Arthur Andersen.
BP was unable to comment on the appointment.
Last month Joe Harley, CIO of the DWP, was appointed as the new government CIO, succeeding John Suffolk.
