Hailstone given the chance to make mark as Comstor UK boss

Comstor has given loyal staffer Clive Hailstone the chance to step into the UK managing director role

Comstor has a fresh UK managing director after the firm chose to promote one of its own into the hot seat to drive the distributor forward.

Clive Hailstone, who has spent a decade at the firm, most recently as UK sales lead, has been given the chance to step into the newly created managing director role, reporting directly into Willem de Haan, svp of Comstor Europe.

One of the areas where he is expected to make an impact is with the key relationship with Cisco and help support the vendor and raise the profile of its current focus on the Network Intuitive strategy.

“Clive has rich and varied experience and is highly respected by our partners, Cisco and the Comstor UK&I team.  He has been a key part of Comstor’s leadership over the past ten years, so I’m delighted to see him play a larger role as we look to continue to enable partners to grow with Cisco technologies and Comstor value-add services and support," said de Haan.

"The new Cisco strategies present great opportunities for partners to enable customers to adapt to the digital demands of the modern world.  Comstor’s customer focus and understanding of Cisco technology are well known, and I welcome the chance to lead the talented Comstor team,” Hailstone said.

The response from the vendor came from Mike Smith, RSM Cisco UK distribution, who said that the vendor was already aware of Hailstone and was sure he would be able to "articulate Cisco's strategy".

Westcon-Comstor last hit the headlines back in June when it sold off its US operations to Synnex for $800m with the firm also taking a 10% stake in international operations, including the UK for $30m.
