A local knowledge can go a long way and the decision by Shift F7 to acquire fellow Dorking-based IT services firm Greencorn Ltd must have made it fairly straightforward when it came to getting a sense of the position of the firm in the neighbourhood.
The acquisition is designed to extend the helpdesk functionality and improve the services that Shift F7 can offer.
“The acquisition provides Shift F7 with additional customers, expansion of a first class helpdesk and the ability to build upon Greencorn’s and Shift F7’s service offerings and to combine our Data Centre services,” said Garry King, CEO, Shift F7 Group.
“Greencorn is a customer service focussed business with exceptional technical expertise, dealing with a wide range of SME customers across the South East of England. We are very pleased that Greencorn’s owner, Andrew Loftus, will join the Shift F7 management team as Technical Consultant. Combining the rest of the Greencorn team’s proven experience and their loyal customer base with Shift F7s will be an excellent accelerator for our Group growth strategy," added King.
In response Loftus said that joining Shift F7 came at a time when it made sense for Greencorn and the access to a large business would have benefits.
"The Shift F7 Group provides the wherewithal to consolidate the range of services that we can currently offer which is good news for us and our customers," he said.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed but Shift F7 will move to Greencorn's offices in Dorking this week.
Shift F7 is no stranger to expansion through acquisition and 18 months ago saw its Datashare Solutions business acquire NJL Communications.
At the start of the year the channel player expanded its IT helpdesk and cloud teams to make sure it could support its own hosted platform, under the guidance of managed services director James Hunter-Paterson.
