Sage starts ERP X3 cloud roll-out

Sage is starting to make its mid market ERP package available via the cloud starting first in the US before bringing it to the UK

Sage has begun to roll out its mid market ERP X3 product via the cloud with the first stage of a global push starting in the US before the vendor makes it available as a hosted application in the UK and Europe.

The vendor's decision to deliver one of its key products sold by the channel as a cloud option is designed to appeal to managed service partners that want to provide a choice of options for customers.

Sage ERP X3 Online will start as a cloud option in the US from next month but the vendor has made it clear that it is coming to the UK and across Europe not too long afterwards.

“North America businesses are one of the leading adopters of cloud technology right now,” said Joe Langner, executive vice president and general manager, mid-market solutions for Sage North America. “That’s why we’re rolling out our cloud version of Sage ERP X3 in this market first."

The vendor has undertaken research to gauge the response from mid-market customers to cloud solutions and found that large numbers of users are looking to take that approach to software delivery.

“Our research shows that three-quarters (76%) of businesses are considering investing in cloud-based business software in future, demonstrating a clear demand and understanding of the benefits of cloud across the mid-market,” said Christophe Letellier, CEO, Sage ERP X3.
