Backed by a flexible, virtualised HP infrastructure based around ProLiant enclosures, blades and rack mounted management servers, with HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric 10Gb Ethernet Modules and 3PAR SAN hardware, the two partners say the service will enable partners of offer a range of cloud options to SME customers.
Managed through a Westcoast-run partner programme, resellers will be able to purchase and manage Microsoft Lync, Exchange and SharePoint, hosted in Westcoast’s own datacentre.
The distie added that to help partners get up and running quickly they would be able to take advantage of existing credit lines already held.
Westcoast MD Duncan Forsyth said the firm wanted to be able to support both on-premise and cloud-based IT.
“HP Converged Cloud will enable us to deliver IaaS and SaaS for customers who want their IT on demand, with fast deployment and minimal need for capital investment,” he explained.
HP UK&I director of cloud computing, Michael Clifford, added: “Owning, managing and utilising a datacentre frightens many resellers. HP Converged Cloud will enable Westcoast to demystify cloud for its resellers and make high quality cloud services easily available to anyone wishing to offer them.”
The HP Westcoast tie-up sits alongside a growing number of vendor-backed options being made available to the channel; coming just days after VMware launched its own hybrid cloud service, which it claimed would help partners overcome the – sometimes well-founded fear – that they would lose control of customers when trying to sell cloud.
